The Reverend Jonathan B. Coffey, Jr.
Rector
The Rev. Jonathan B. Coffey received his bachelor degree from Goddard College in Plainfield, Vermont and his Master of Divinity from Seabury-Western Theological Seminary in Chicago. Jon received an advanced degree in management and spiritual formation from the General Theological Seminary in New York and studied in the Doctor of Ministry program at St. Vladimir's Orthodox Seminary in Crestwood, New York. He also did one year of post-graduate work on systems theory.
Jon has been a parish priest for over 29 years. In the late 1970s he worked as the Missioner for the Grand Traverse Area Mission in the diocese of Western Michigan. In this capacity he served as vicar of two rural missions and assistant at a larger congregation. Jon later served at St. Alban's in Auburndale, Florida and at St. Richard's in Winter Park, Florida. John then served as rector of a downtown congregation in Fayetteville, Arkansas and as rector of St. James the Less in Scarsdale, New York. Jon came to St. Mark's from St. Anthony on the Desert in Scottsdale, Arizona where he served as rector for over 8 years.
Jon has been married to the former Julia Allen Gibson for over 32 years and has two grown children, Kate and Spencer. He enjoys a host of outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, swimming, golf, and tennis. Jon and Julie are nurtured by the arts and also value the privilege of community engagement.
