Godly Play: Potty-trained 3 year-olds through 2nd grade
Hope House
Godly Play is a Montessori-based Christian Formation program which teaches children the stories of the Bible and models itself on the order of our Episcopal liturgy. In Godly Play, “shepherds” guide our children through story-telling, art, game and snack stations, which help the children become more aware of God's presence in their daily lives.

Discovery Class: 3rd Grade
Dempsey Chapel
The Discovery class focuses on many of the sacraments and rituals we observe as Episcopalians and teaches children about worship in a fun, interactive way. In addition to topics such as baptism, Eucharist, and prayer the children spend part of each class in Bible study and with memory verses.

Breakfast Clubs: 4th, 5th and 6th Grades
Grace House
The Breakfast Clubs are separate for boys and girls as they study the Bible and learn to apply Bible lessons into daily life. These classes use a variety of curricula and play games, as well as discuss social issues related to the age group. A light breakfast is always provided.
The Episcopal Church is committed to protecting children from sexual abuse. At St. Mark's Episcopal Church, we require any lay leader who may come into contact with children to take the Church’s prevention and training program, Safeguarding God’s Children.
The consequences of childhood sexual abuse are far-reaching—from depression, anxiety, and social problems to a higher risk of suicide, drug abuse, and teenage pregnancy. Unfortunately, churches are not immune to this problem, so we want to ensure we all know how to avoid potential issues at our church.
This training is now available online, and you can do the training at your own pace. You can do one a day over the course of a week, or over the course of a month or all at one time. You can even do it at 3 o’clock in the morning; it’s available 24/7.
If you have been asked to take this training, please contact Denise Hudmon at 388-2681 ext. 217 or dhudmon@stmarksjacksonville.org for your log-in and password information, and thanks for protecting our children!
