This sermon reflects on the example of Jesus in Philippians and John 13, emphasizing His humility in lowering Himself to serve others, even to the point of death. It contrasts Christ’s “downward mobility” with humanity’s natural desire for status and success, highlighting how countercultural His love truly is. Through the powerful image of Jesus washing the disciples’ feet—including those who would betray and deny Him—the message reveals a love that is unconditional, sacrificial, and fully poured out. The sermon challenges listeners to receive that love with humility, setting aside pride and allowing Jesus to meet them in their vulnerability and need. Finally, it calls believers to imitate Christ by loving others in the same self-giving, humble way, serving others from a place of having first received His grace.
