"A Hope That Waits"

Drawing from James, the imagery of the farmer, and the story of John the Baptist, he contrasts godly patience with false hope and impatience that place trust in circumstances, timelines, or visible results. The sermon explores how impatience leads to ethical shortcuts, damaged relationships, and grumbling that subtly elevates ourselves into the role of God. True patience, Holt argues, is a hope that waits on the Lord, strengthens the heart, and refuses to force God’s promises prematurely. Advent invites believers to resist the urge to rush fulfillment and instead trust God’s timing, character, and faithfulness as they wait expectantly for the coming of Christ.
