Blessing of the Backpacks
Sunday, August 9, 10 a.m. & 5 p.m. in the church
Children bring backpacks to the Sunday, August 9, 10 a.m. or 5 p.m. service for a blessing to be shared over them and the year to come. Each student will receive the gift of a backpack tag as a reminder of God’s peace and presence throughout the school year.

EYC Kickoff
Sunday, August 23, 6 p.m. in the Youth Center
Join us as we kick off a new year of youth group! All middle and high school students are invited to the Youth Center at 6:00 p.m. for a fun and meaningful evening. We’ll have games, food, and time to reconnect, along with a chance to grow in faith and build community. Whether you’ve been coming for years or it’s your first time, this is the perfect night to jump in - bring a friend or come as you are!

Caregiver Coffee & Conversation
Thursday, August 6, 10:30 a.m. in the Youth Center
Join us this summer for coffee, conversation, and encouragement for caregivers. We will gather in the Youth Center on August 6 at 10:30 a.m. for coffee, tea, pastries, conversation, and shared resources as we support one another in the calling of caregiving.

Anyone is welcome to attend, and we encourage you to share this invitation with others who are caring for loved ones in this season of life.

Lay Leader Kickoff
Sunday, August 9, 5 p.m. in the church
Join us Sunday, August 9, for St. Mark’s Lay Leader Kickoff and Training. We’ll start with The River at 5 p.m., followed by our lay leaders kickoff and training event. This evening is all about equipping, encouraging, and celebrating you as we prepare for the new church year.

Rally Day
Sunday, August 30, 10 a.m.
Join us on Rally Day for food, fellowship, and lots of fun! At the 10 a.m. service, our choir will be joined again by the Jacksonville Gospel Chorale. After the service, come to Leatherbury Hall for a BBQ lunch. Meal tickets can be purchased online ahead of time or at the door. Enjoy outdoor activities, including a huge water slide, train rides, a dunking booth, and games.

Christianity Today
Sundays, 11 a.m. in the Grace House
Christianity Today, led by Doug Milne, will continue to meet this summer, Sundays at 11:00 a.m. in Grace House. This popular Bible study explores the life and teachings of Jesus and their relevance in the Bible, as well as books by various authors. Dialogue is welcomed and encouraged. Weekday preparation is not required.

St. Mark's Stitchers
Thursdays, 11 a.m. at the Red Lion Upstairs
Love to needlepoint? Join us for our needlepoint group at the Red Lion upstairs, on Thursdays from 11:00 a.m.– 12:30 p.m. Whether you are brand new or a seasoned stitcher, all are welcome to attend for fellowship and stitching. Bring any stitching project!

EYC Summer Hangouts
August 8: Back to School Color War – Youth Center

Venture Crew (Scouting America – coed program for older youth)
One or two Tuesdays a month, 7:30 p.m. in the Youth Center
Venturing is a co-ed program within Scouting America for older youth/young adults aged 14-20 focused on adventure, leadership, personal growth, and service with a focus on High Adventure Activities and Challenges like Hiking, Backpacking, Scuba, Shooting Sports, Rock Climbing, Mountain Biking, Rafting and more. The Crew will focus on an annual trip to one of Scouting America’s High Adventure Bases (Philmont, SeaBase, Northern Tier, Summit, Swamp Base) along with other high adventure activities and whatever else the Crew would like to plan.

Boy Scouts (Scouting America – Scouts BSA Troop for boys)
Tuesdays, 7 p.m. in the Youth Center
St. Mark’s has chartered scouting groups for over 100 years! Come see what it’s all about! Boys age 10/in 5th grade up through age 18 are invited to come check out this amazing program that fosters leadership, good citizenship, lifelong skill-building, and love of the outdoors through a program of rank advancement and camping and other outdoor activities.
